Lightbulb About Economy: Add NPC for sell items OFFLINE.

I was thinking about an easy way for buy/sell things in GW. I know developers can't add an option for sit character and sell all night, because GW hasn't mouth fees.

Sometimes, sell an item is a nightmare. Why not go to a special "auction" NPC, set a price for the items I want to sell, and log off. People interested in a particular item go to the special NPC, search the list, and buy it. Very easy and fast buy/sell, not millions of people losing their time in chat with WTS WTB (lagging GW servers), and the possibility to sell being offline.

An auction house is being ask for all the time...

Actually, I do wonder about the negative effect of such thing...
Here are some possiblities.

- The price of the item will drop, and drop fast. A green might sell for 5k or less... Since there is a overhealming supplies out in the market, and not enought demands to meet it, and added to the easier transactions, price will drop. Its good for the buyers, but for the seller, or the producers (who farm), who might see that the output is not worth the input, that they just wasted 2 hour trying to get a green that would sell for dirt. This might discourage more than one player to continue play.

- The Newpeople can not easily get their hands on the green and the gold with relative cheaper price. This, added to the Forge Run, will make new player easily overpower in their suppose "leveled area", which make the game not play what it is suppose to be played.

I think Gaile Gray has mentioned that Auction Houses are something the developers are seriously looking into implementing.

Green items are not supposed to be super rare. There isnt much in the game that is supposed to be rare. A few skins and thats it.

Price Drops, Not the end of the world for one thing. Farmers stop playing supply lessens Value of item Increases, Farmers farm, Value of item decreases, Rince and repeat.

Traders can more accuratly gadge supply and demand for there items and adjust price acordinfly

That is true, if the item is usable ones (such as wood, iron, ecto). But for weapons, unless there are still a continue stream of new player coming in, most people won't need more than 1 or 2 sets. It would mean a big drop, and slowly back up (or stay long) depend on how many still loot such thing.

Several factors to think about and balance around:

-Player Number and their Playing Time (which would translate to how popular the game is => more funding for deving)

- The ease of doing things (which reduce playing time)

- Rewards (reduce of it would also reduce playing time)

etc etc... (run out of the steam to finish my point)

But as long as it would still keep playing (or with addtion of new contents to keep player interested), such thing to ease up the trading would be great.

I think it would balance out fine, like Pillz_veritas said, and I'm all in favor of having one, I hate dealing with the open market in GW.

I see no advantage to this system over an auction house. So I feel that ANET should be working on an auction house instead of this.

Do you think GW developers read this thread/forum?

Yeah, that ruin the game when you can't chat because there are hundred of people selling/buying in NORMAL chat, not in trade chat. You can't even read a thing, you must turn off general chat.

Another suggestion: Filter all WTS and WTB to trade channel; I mean filer chat sentences with that words.

While filtering would help keep the lazy and incompetent traders out of main chat, the unscrupulous ones that are just trying to force everyone, including people who turned off trade chat, to see their items would just quit using identifiable terms. Basically: a few people in Ascalon would go to trade chat, and LA and Drok's would still be overrun by botters and farmers trying to force everyone to view their wares.

I don't see why selling items to merchants is a money sink though. I think having a merchant "auction house" that deals in items is a good idea. Truly rare and valuable finds would be sold here, whereas things with a certain low level of demand wouldn't be accepted. You could either have the option to set a desired price, or you could let the supply/demand code they already have in place for other traders do the work for you.
